Yo, a little bit late, but I see you stopped with your twitter account and gave it to Gameloft. I just wanted to thank you for your dedication to the MC community, I'm sure many people thank you.
Would you mind creating a blog post here on the wiki about the twitter change? The Twitter feed on the home page will now be from Gameloft, and I'm sure there are people who read that. If you make the post, I'll make sure it appears on the News section on the home page.
Sure! I was actually planning to make a post on here about it.
Anyways, sorry about not being as active as I should have here on the wiki. As I'm sure you know, sometimes finding time can be difficult. Wish you the best. Will be turning off Wikia notifications, so if you ever need to contact me you can reach me at my personal Twitter (note: I don't Tweet about iOS gaming from there).
Thanks for the fun times. I really did enjoy working on this wiki. :)
Hey, I heard that the MC5 devs wanted to make MC5 a 'community game', the users should give them tips. I'm not too excited about Gameloft's promises about communication, but anyway.
You are the closest to the devs, so I'm asking you: do they ever check this wiki? This here is THE place for and by the MC community. The comments on the MC5 page are full of tips and suggestions. We could make a forum for tips.
Maybe you can tell them about the wiki, or ask them if they contact us here or anything. It would be the perfect bridge between Gameloft and the customers!
Currently, I'm not as in-touch with Gameloft representatives as I used to be, and when I do communicate with them it is most often indirectly. However, I'll check with them about the wiki next time I get the chance.
As for Gameloft listening to the community, they already have a method for that. Players have been sending lists of problems, suggestions, etc to Gameloft CMs Ryan (Gameloft SF) and Ronnie (Gameloft UK) through Twitter, and they have been emailing the developers with the information. I'm been keeping my eye on the comments on this wiki, and it seems like most of the suggestions have been covered on Twitter.
However, as to the comments on this wiki, that has been a problem for me. There seem to be more anti-Gameloft people condensed on this wiki than anywhere else on the Internet. And I'm speaking as the owner of the only MC Twitter account, basically the one place where everyone goes to rant about their problems with the game. That is the primary reason why I have not contributed to this wiki much since the game's launch; until it becomes a cleaner/friendlier place, I don't really want to associate myself with it very much. Even some admins seem to be joining in on the bashing Gameloft, which doesn't make the wiki look too good in my mind. Take this as you will, but this wiki needs some serious work.
People who really enjoy the game are not going to search for a website about it. Right. But I can't change the comments, we have freedom of speech. They will reduce in about a week, when everybody played the game and the haters are going on.
Of course you can change the comments, you're an admin. Just help delete the ones that aren't in good taste to keep this wiki clean.
And re-read your first line. If "people who enjoy the game" don't look for a website about it, then what's the point of this thread? I thought you were wanting this wiki to be a place for tips about the game. You're contradicting yourself. :P
P.S. the haters won't reduce very much over time. Some will leave, but others will come. Possibly as MC5's updates are released, and player's needs are quenched, maybe then the bashing will end. But not any time soon.
I'm not going to delete comments that say that the game is not good, that would be unfair. Like I said, everybody has freedom of speech.
And yeah... I meant, there are two kinds of people on this wiki. One is the kind that really searches for info like me two years ago. The other one is the annoying user who never makes an edit and only leaves comments. The last one is the one who I was referring to.
I think there is much less negative sound the last time, but we will see...
By keeping the comments clean, I just mean delete the ones that don't contribute to the topic. For example, a comment such as "MC5 is crap" deserves deleting, but one that says "I really don't like MC5 because of _____" is in good taste because it contributes information. We don't want people to be turned off of the wiki just because the comments section is a mess.
Yes, I think we can add trusted users too. But the maximum amount of players is 20, and admins + trusted users are 15 already. But that's okay, I think there won't be many new admins in the coming year.
I do own the game (no, I didn't pirate it), but I promised the person who gave it to me that I would only use it for certain purposes. That's why I haven't added much to the wiki. I do have clearance to add stuff tomorrow though, so I'll be working a lot on the wiki then.
It is amazing. That is all I can say. Once you get used to the controls it is amazing. The movements are very fluid, and there are a lot of cool animations. Today Bnates and I were messing around with the 'picking up weapons' feature, because when you pick up a gun you 'spit' out your current gun. It looks really cool. :)
I'm sure you'll love the game. The multiplayer works very well, and is super intense. And the Airstrike is just... I have no words for it, you gotta get one for yourself.
@Bash, No, although everyone who illegally downloaded the game was banned, everyone who got it from a shared account can still play. But that's not very many people. Two days ago there were a couple thousand people online, today barely a dozen.
Yeah, the game will cost $6.99, or the corresponding price in whatever country you live in. And it releases at approximately midnight, everywhere. Because of timezones, places like Australia will get it many hours before places like the US.
I believe it's just Windows Phone, but I'm not sure. They haven't giving out too much information on the Windows platform, due to its later release date. I'll check the next time I have an opportunity to.
